Your case files stay on your iPad
A case file holds things that are not ours to share: a client's documents, a draft strategy, notes in the margin. YIP Note is built around one simple rule: your documents stay on your device.
What stays on your iPad
- The documents you import (PDFs, photos, Word files turned into PDFs).
- Every mark: ink, highlights, underlines, redactions, stickers.
- Your bookmarks, comments and notes.
- Your personal touches, like the colour of the app and the name used in the greeting.
None of this is uploaded, synced or read by anyone. YIP Note works fully offline once your documents are in.
What the account knows
To use the iPad app you sign in with Apple or Google. The account remembers only what it needs to run your subscription:
- that you signed in (an account number, and your email if you choose to share it),
- the devices you use YIP Note on,
- your free months, subscription or gift code.
It never sees your documents, marks or notes. The Privacy policy sets this out in full.
Moving to a new iPad
Since nothing is stored online, you move your work yourself: Settings → Backups → Back up all Case Files makes one .yipnote file. Keep it as safely as the documents themselves, because anyone who has the file can open it. On the new iPad, choose Restore from a backup.
Redactions
The Redact tool puts a solid black box over anything you choose. The original stays on your device, and copies you export later will leave the hidden part out completely.
